Map Explorer — Plot lat,lon Pins on OpenStreetMap

Free Map Explorer for KML and local SEO workflows: set a center latitude/longitude and optional lon,lat pin list, then preview on OpenStreetMap tiles — no Google Maps API key. Ideal for quick pin checks before Circle Generator, Point Validator, or client coverage decks.

Key features

What Map Explorer does

It plots a center coordinate and optional additional pins on OpenStreetMap so you can visually confirm store locations, sample grids, or KML coordinate lists without installing Google Earth.

Why local SEO and map teams use it

Sanity-check pins after Point Validator, preview rank-grid samples, or capture screenshots for client decks explaining coverage points.

Points vs full geometry

This explorer plots pins only. For rings, paths, or KML file drops, use Circle Generator, Drag and Drop Map, or Geometries Assembler.

How to use this tool (best practice)

1) Enter center as lat, lon. 2) Optionally paste lon,lat extras. 3) Update map. Next: Distance Calculator, Nearest Point, or Circle Generator.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Map Explorer free?

Yes. It is free on GBP Local Ranker’s KML Workbench at /free-tools/kml-workbench/map — no login required for basic use.

Whose map tiles are these?

OpenStreetMap community raster tiles — no Google Maps key required.

What format is the center point?

Decimal lat, lon with a comma — for example 17.4401, 78.3489.

What format are extra points?

Space-separated lon,lat pairs in KML order — for example 78.35,17.45 78.36,17.44.

Can I draw polygons or lines here?

This tool plots points only. Use Circle Generator, RF Leg, or Geometries for shapes and paths.

Why is my extra list ignored?

Extra points must be valid lon,lat tokens separated by spaces. Invalid tokens are skipped.

Is the map mobile friendly?

Yes — pinch zoom and pan work on modern phones and tablets.

Does it work offline?

Map tiles need a network connection to load OpenStreetMap imagery.

How is this different from Drag and Drop Map?

Map Explorer plots coordinates you type. Drag and Drop Map previews an entire .kml file.

Where is the full KML Workbench suite?

Open All KML Workbench Tools at /free-tools/kml-workbench for point validator, circle generator, reader, and more.
